Storage & recovery

Review this browser’s local storage, verify note integrity, and access recovery tools.

Browser storage only. Notes remain in this browser profile.

Recover safely

  • Browser saved: a local save is stored in this browser profile. Export it before clearing browser data.
  • Queued or offline replica: your browser copy is safe locally; reconnect the same loopback service and use Retry sync.
  • File trash/recovery: this is separate local-server storage, not a verified backup. Inspect it with the local service tools.
  • Verified export: a completed checksum-validated export is portable. A storage check is read-only and is not a backup.

Diagnostics are generated locally and exclude note text, full URLs, paths, and identifiers by default.

Extension settings

Notes stay in this extension’s browser storage by default. Free uses one note per browser tab, including tabs restored by the browser after restart. TabScribbles does not read or store the page title, URL, or page content.

Free scope
Current tab only; restored tabs keep their notes after restart.

Side panel and extension storage only.

Paste as quote
Uses only the browser’s native paste event after your keyboard shortcut; no clipboard or page access.
Network
No hosted service, analytics, or active local file connection.
Local data
Notes, queued file operations, conflict copies, opaque tab mappings, and local preferences.

Enabling requests access to the exact loopback scheme, hostname, and port above, then tests it only after this explicit action.

Delete note?

The browser record becomes a deletion tombstone. If the local file service is connected, it moves the replicated file to its recovery trash. This cannot be undone in the app.
